AB 276 - An Act Relating to Postsecondary Cybersecurity Education.

AB 276, as amended, Medina. Postsecondary education: report: cybersecurity education and training programs.Existing law, known as the Donahoe Higher Education Act, establishes the missions and functions of the state’s 3 segments of public post secondary education, which are the University of California, the California State University, and the California Community Colleges.


The provisions of the Donahoe Higher Education Act apply to the University of California only to the extent that the Regents of the University of California, by resolution, make them applicable.This bill would request the Regents of the University of California,the Trustees Chancellor’s Office of the California State University, the Chancellor’s Office of the California Community Colleges, and independent institutions of higher education, no later than January 1,2019, to complete a report that evaluates the current state of cybersecurity education and training programs, including specified information about those programs, offered at the University of California, the California State University, the California Community 96 Colleges, and independent institutions of higher education, respectively,to determine the extent to which the state is meeting the workforce needs of the cybersecurity industry.
